TEMPORARY SETUP

The DeepBlue Sensors are typically installed in 10-20 minutes, and can be used for temporary installation to study specific traffic cases to gather origin/destination and/or travel time information. The DeepBlue sensors are useful for studying behavior at intersections, on highways, during events, or in a larger area where it is necessary to understand the behavior of the drivers prior to taking action. Typical questions that can be addressed are; who is using this entrance or exit?, how many people will need this left or right turn?, how many people are using these urban streets to avoid the congestion on the motorway, or a toll station?, where are the visitors coming from?, etc..

The low power consumption allows placing the sensor in a small box with a battery that could give, for instance, 5-6 days of operation. The sensors can be delivered with onboard 3G modems. The modem offers two major benefits; on one hand it allows the sensors to send information in real-time to the Virtual Control Center, which can then be downloaded to Excel from the web based application, and on the other hand it allows supervising the installation remotely, and receive a warning, for instance, in case of battery failure. The remote supervision is particularly important for large origin/destination studies; studies in which it is crucial that each and every one of the sensors are operative throughout the duration of the study.
